San Diego

Welcome to San Diego

Pacific beaches, ample outdoor space, and wonderful weather year-round are just a few of the things synonymous with San Diego. Active communities, close proximity to the shore, surfer-vibe Main Street districts, and historic character have melded together to create a high quality of life in paradise. Several recently built new homes are available for much more attractive prices compared to other SoCal communities, only adding to the appeal and allure of America’s Finest City.

San Diego boasts a storied past of rich Native, Spanish, and Mexican history. A major defense hub of World War II, the region’s population grew slowly but steadily after the war and again at the turn of the millennium. Today, San Diego’s friendly, funky beach vibes are appreciated by both locals and visitors alike.

Local Lifestyle

Widely celebrated for its blissful climate, San Diego boasts 70 miles of coastline and some of the best surfing spots in the world. Many downtown restaurants situated along the San Diego Bay serve the freshest seafood available, with some of the most tranquil coastal views anywhere. A resort lifestyle is enjoyed year-round thanks to several luxe spas, golf courses overlooking the sea, and exclusive yachting clubs. Still, a slower pace of life takes center stage allowing locals to experience a refreshing sense of community and small-town feel without sacrificing big-city luxuries.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Arguably the most highly acclaimed dining experience in Southern California, Addison features pre-set French haute cuisine offerings with perfect wine pairings in The Grand Golf Club. San Diego’s first two Michelin-starred restaurant offers a ten-course tasting menu showcasing the very best Southern California-style fare. Chef William Bradley and the impeccable waitstaff have created something truly special with this once-in-a-lifetime meal which not all will be lucky enough to experience.

A.R. Valentien is a five-star dining experience in The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. The Lodge’s signature dining establishment showcases the finest California-centric cuisine on a breathtaking outdoor terrace overlooking the golf course’s 18th hole and the Pacific. This Michelin-honoree is a living tribute to SoCal, presenting a menu of roasted duck, sea scallops, and a mouthwatering thyme biscuit.

For more exotic flavors, Dija Mara is the undeniable best choice. Southeastern Asian flavors, Western flair, and Japanese techniques have come together in beautiful harmony to design a tantalizing experience for the senses. Elegant plates served in industrial digs have thrilled the local community since their opening in 2017.

San Diego’s bright downtown is highlighted by the historic Gaslamp Quarter. Not only is this the heart of the city’s artistic and cultural scene, but it is also the focal point of a buzzing nightlife district. Trendy boutiques, locally-owned cafes offering alfresco dining, craft cocktails, and live music performances are just the tip of the iceberg. Nearby, the San Diego Zoo, U.S.S. Midway, Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House, and the baseball games at Petco Park are routine parts of San Diego life.

Things To Do

The San Diego Padres compete in Major League Baseball and play at Petco Park. In the offseason, the ballpark hosts concerts, golf tournaments, and soccer matches. Another way to enjoy time in San Diego’s perfect weather is, of course, a day spent at the beach. Several beaches covered in infinite white sand are great spots for surfing and swimming under the watchful eye of year-round lifeguards. La Jolla Cove Beach is a particularly popular enclave for snorkeling and scuba diving in the company of native marine wildlife. Nearby, the Coronado Bridge Viewpoint is a quiet spot to simply appreciate the unmatched scenery and take a moment away from it all to yourself.

Schools

San Diego is home to several world-class schools. A few fine campuses include:

  • San Dieguito Union High School, grades 7-12; the district is the best in the county, one of the best in the state, and has made great financial strides to better provide a more modern education for all students
  • The Bishop’s School, grades 6-12; a staggeringly low 9:1 student-teacher ratio has ensured high success rates at this world-class college preparatory school
  • La Jolla Country Day School, 3 years-12th grade; for nearly a century, this prestigious academic institution has offered extensive college preparatory assistance, several advanced courses, and triple the success rate on AP exams in comparison to other California high schools
